Show Team Code of Conduct
Any student who wants to compete at an away show with High Standard Stables must agree to these terms and conditions. You represent High Standard Stables when you attend away shows wearing our barn gear. I always desire that our barn sets a High Standard of what show teams can be.
Horse shows can already be stressful with nerves flying high, early mornings, long days, rollercoaster of emotions throughout the show day as things may not go as you had hoped, little sleep from staying up too late the night before…etc. Let's be a barn that stands out from all the others by being a team that builds each other up instead of tearing each other down. The way we can do this:
· Keep comments positive about judging (I know it’s hard sometimes when things don’t seem to make sense on the placings), how other riders at the show are riding including riders from other stables and my students.
· If you have something negative to say, please keep it to yourself.
· If you have a question about how someone is riding then quietly come up to me and ask the question but talk softly so we can discuss it privately.
· Be courteous and be sure to thank any volunteers or show management you see, even if they mess something up or the show doesn’t run smoothly. It is a lot of work to put on shows.
· Be encouraging to other students/teammates on our show team and refrain from critiquing or pointing out mistakes they made. Leave the corrections and coaching to me, that is my job. The day can be challenging enough so please stick to positive encouragement only.
· Do your best to keep a good attitude no matter how the day goes. If you feel down, frustrated, or need a hug, I’m always here to coach and encourage!
Thank you for your understanding and being a great representative of High Standard Stables! Can’t wait for a spectacular 2025 show season with y’all!
Other expectations of those competing at away shows
· Payment for coaching, lease, trailering, travel fee, etc is due day of the show
· There will be a $25 non-refundable deposit due at the time of signing up for an away show that will secure Amy blocking off the date from lessons as well as helping the student enter the show. This deposit will go towards the coaching fee once the student attends the show. If the rider scratches from the show for any reason they will lose the deposit.
· If you are competing an HSS horse you must be at the barn the day before the show to get the horse ready, clean tack, load trailer, etc. If you can’t there will be a $40 fee to have Amy do it (see price list).
· If you are competing an HSS horse you must arrive at the barn prior to the show to help load the horse and come to the barn after the show to help unload horse and tack.

Coaching includes helping the rider warm up, learn their course, watching their ride, going over what they can improve, and lots of encouragement and fun! If only one student showing there is a $200 minimum coaching fee/day.
